Hillside Gardens, Mill Valley

3:00-6:00

(directions and shuttle information below)

"Wolpert is a painter of places… he roils an imaginary sky with whole storms of churning agitation... and beautiful light at the end of these tunnel-like tempests, sunlight bursting through almost audibly... He is, after all, a painter of space and light. His paintings capture the way nature... provokes in us a simultaneous sense of elation, nostalgia, contentment, longing and the thrill of the Sublime."

excerpted from Painting Space by Peter Frank, Art critic/curator

Savory Thymes invites you to experience Adam Wolpert's new series of oils on linen, elemental paintings nested in one of Marin's most diverse and abundant gardens. Adam's work invites us to contemplate painting that is about the very nature of nature. This is an experiment in viewing, in which the viewer, the work and the setting are in continual dialogue. The exhibit will be both inside and outside in the terraced gardens and will offer a whole sensory experience integrating art, delicious food, cocktails and fine company.

Please RSVP to Katy Mamen: katy.mamen@mail.mcgill.ca
and indicate the number of guests in your party.

There is no charge for this event.

Critics on the recent work of Adam Wolpert:

Like a modern day Turner, Wolpert addresses the boundary between industrial civilization and nature. But here the landscapes are not to be conquered. They are powerful, mysterious, unpredictable.

—Karl Burkart, Art critic, SHFT

His life-long commitment to nature, and exploring the beauty within it, has led him to create intriguing art that offers a new gateway through which the public may view nature.

—Cristina Ordoqui, Haute Living LA

Wolpert's work is vested with a turbulent, but not chaotic, transformative energy, yielding a visceral response.

—Satri Pencak, Curator/critic
